Unexpected reference

Today my wife and I took our daughter to the Hippodrome theatre in Baltimore to see "In The Heights", a high-energy musical set in contemporary Washington Heights, Manhatten, a blue collar, Hispanic community.  It was a great show, but the reason I bring it up here, what made me think of the Chronic Rift during the show, was that they actually made a reference, as unlikely as it may seem, to Knight Rider.

(One of the characters was going to leave the community, and his friend, taking exception to being left behind, asked him:  "Would Bert leave Ernie?  Would Knight Rider leave KITT?")

To think that you think of The Rift when you hear someone reference Knight Rider.

It cuts me to the bone.  But then I think about Bert and Ernie instead, and that cheers me right up.

The Rift

:o)

It is funny, but the Rift has sort of become a nexus point; whether it's Sesame Street or zombies or video games or Sherlock Holmes ... and on and on and on....everything seems to tie back to the Rift.

Maybe it's your Quantum Singularity.

Case in point.....quite by accident I ran across this clip from one of my favorite cartoons of all time.... and was reminded of one of your very early spotlight episodes (I'm pretty sure it was before you were calling them "spotlight episodes") as well as a more recent episode on the DC Universe:

The Rift

See, that's why I like doing this show. You never know what we're going to talk about.  On the one hand, that hurts us, especially when we're doing a Roundtable as the topic may not appeal to everyone, but we feel it needs to be covered.  Those that are willing to listen to every episode may learn something though in the process.  On the old public access show, we ran the gamut from Star Wars to filksinging to Dark Shadows to Robert Heinlein to the Society for Creative Anachronism.

Richness

As a listener that's one of the things I value about the Rift.  Case in point, your season one episode on LARP.  It's not a subject that I would have sought out, not something that I'm overwhelmingly interested in, not something I'll probably every participate in. But the hour you spent on it was interesting and gave me just enough knowledge to get a feel for the subject.  You guys are like the potpourri of the mind.

On the other hand, so far the only place I've ever heard reference to "The Jersey Shore" is here on the Rift.  Oh, well, it's a small price to pay, I guess.  ;)
