So, where do you stand on video games?  Do you prefer PC or platform games?  Have you played any Wadjet Eye Games?  Make sure you rate the episode here.

Really good episode

First comment...it's like Peter David knows me personally!

Second comment...the first time listening, instead of "...Dr. Hugo's factory for makin' robots..." my brain heard "...Dr. Hugo's factory for bacon robots..."  Which is an idea that is long overdue.  And it was a little disappointing to realize my error.

Ah, but the show itself was really excellent.  It's been far too long since I did any video gaming at all, and I think I might give "Emerald City Confidential" a try, as I too am a fan of both noir and Nonestica.  It's heartening that PC gaming is still healthy, after many predictions of doom for the PC as a gaming platform.  I think that fact that the PC is accessible to indy developers makes it a very rich platform, but also one for which there is a lot of less-than-stellar-quality games.  So it was great to get the scoop on Wadjet Eye; I had never heard of them before.

Andrea, John, thanks for a great episode.

All Right, Kids

How does an episode, that hasn't been released yet, get three ratings while an episode that has recently been released only has two? I smell a fix.  Now, mind you, it is a great episode and I think a lot of people are going to enjoy it, but isn't that jumping the gun just a little?

Harumph

I don't know if it's my laptop or my iTunes, but the episode didn't autmatically download.  The Juliet Landau episode did, but not this one.

This time it wasn't me!

I mean, granted, we WERE brilliant, but I'm not going to give it five stars until it's actually available for the public to hear.

It is gonna get five stars, though.  Unless you manage to mess it up somehow in the editing process, John ..

ETA: Okay, I got a sneak preview of the edited podcast.  I am pleased to say that John did not screw it up.  In fact, he made us sound more coherent than we actually were.  Which is ALWAYS a plus!

Another recommendation for Andrea (and anyone else)

Since you liked my Robert E. Howard movie recommendation (glad you did!), here's another one for you that occurred to me while listening to your Wadjet Eye episode.

There is a professional game critic/humorist named Ben "Yahtzee" Croshaw who used to make his own Lucasarts-style adventure games.  His main series spanned from the present to the far future, but unite to create one overall story.  The series was released and should be played in this order, if you're interested (even though chronolgically, they jump around):  1) 5 Days a Stranger, 2) 7 Days a Skeptic, 3) Trilby's Notes, 4) 6 Days a Sacrifice.  They are all available for free from his website, and if you get the "Special Edition" versions of each (which used to cost money, but are now also free), they come with author commentary tracks like the Wadjet Eye games you mentioned (which I admittedly haven't played, but I gather are somewhat similar).  Here's the link:  http://www.fullyramblomatic.com/games.htm
