The Wolfman

John S. Drew's picture

So, Sue and I found ourselves with the opportunity to anything we wanted yesterday as Grandma came over to watch the kids and we decided to go to a movie despite not really knowing what's out there.  There was that part of me that wanted to see Avatar, but there was that other part of me that did not want to invest in the time sink.

We went to the Pallasades Mall and looked at what was offered.  Sue caught onto The Wolfman immediately.  I'm not much of a horror fan, but it was her day too, so in we went.

Visually, the movie is good.  The special effects are nothing new, right down to close-ups of Del Toro's hand bent out of shape as he transforms into the werewolf.  The setting is Victorian London and I found myself more interested in trying to see if the producers tripped up at any point, leaving any signs of modern trappings in their Victorian village.

And there is the root of the problem.  I tried to watch the movie, but unfortunately, it was so predictable I found myself playing games with myself to pass the time.  It was so obvious who the other werewolf was that infected Del Toro.  It was obvious how the movie was going to end and the signs were all there for what they hope will be a sequel.

I'm hoping nobody's holding their breath on that one.

Definitely a DVD rental if you are fan of such fare.
