Two Thumbs Up
Saw it yesterday, and it was an excellent movie. It definitely stays true to the spirit of the comic. Wonderful performances, and very good overall.
Nothing more to say, really. Don't want to spoil the movie ...
Watchmen - The Lunch Box!
I've been very jazzed by the trailers and the pictures, and I hate to even mention the thoughts that go through my head when i look at Malin Akerman in the Silk Spectre II outfit and the long wig (well, two thoughts I can tell you -- first, the film outfit isn't as cute as the GN outfit, and I think Snyder's missed the point of Silk Spectre II's outfit in the book, that it was a reflection of her mother's costume, because of her mother; secondly, the long, long hair is, well, problematic -- think Dollar Bill's cape, think of issues with fighting, and think of what happens when hair that long and treated comes near major fire) but...ain't there always a but?
So far they've been cautious letting out anything really complete from the film -- and that just changed, as the studio released a couple of minutes from the tenement fire sequence, and Malin Akerman, I'm afraid, comes off very flat and energyless.
I'm hoping to see it around the time of release, and will be trying to get my hands on the Black Freighter/Behind The Mask DVD as well, as this might well be what I talk about in Comics Curmudgeon in March.
Also, the merchandising is belting along something fierce, which means there's going to be lots of remaindered books around Yule, not to mention all kinds of stuff hitting the bargain racks.
So which of you serious, serious geeks with all the geek cred is going to go out and by a few packs of Watchmen condoms, hmmm? You can get 'em in Dr. Manhattan neon blue, even!
Here's My Geek Card
I'm not looking forward to another movie based on another property that no matter how cool the special effects or how visually appealing it may be, will fall flat as they will leave out parts of the story.
Sorry, my two cents.
Okay, that was fun
That game was cute. And every trailer is cooler than the last. Will the movie possibly live up to our expectations? Here's hoping!
