I saw it live. Way
I saw it live. Way cool.
Yet, the US cannot get itself off its oil dependence.
I dunno. At first I thought
I dunno. At first I thought it was a little weird to be "beaming" in a journalist, but I guess it's no more ridiculous than someone making eye contact with an image on a flat screen, pretending they are looking through a magic portal to somewhere else while the remote reporter is staring into a gray lens or into a teleprompter mirror. Still, it's a little cheesy. On the other hand, I can't wait until they perfect the process the technology for which the tech was originally intended: creating 360 navigable instant replays for the NFL. And interestingly enough, the tech wasn't inspired so much by Star Wars or Star Trek, but The Matrix. CNN is just getting the Beta test of what is essentially a digital rotoscope.
Missed It
I bopped around from station to station, but I've seen a few posts about it. Most people thought it was just too weird. We get something futuristic and we can't handle it.

Trek-Like Hologram?
I know Star Trek likes to pride itself on the fact that many of the innovations we have today were inspired by things in the show, but I think a little movie series called Star Wars beat it to the punch with this one - http://www.trektoday.com/news/061108_01.shtml.
