A Few of My Favorite Podcasts

Now that we're doing our own podcasts I finally took my shiny iPod out of the box and started listening to the podcasts associated with websites that I read on a regular basis.  Some of them were fine but not especially memorable, but a few lived up to and exceeded my expectations.

The Diner http://web.mac.com/lileks/Lileks.com_Podcasts/Podcast/Podcast.html

James Lileks is just as conversational in his podcast as he is in his daily Bleat postings, and nearly as funny as he is during a random hour you spent perusing The Institute of Official Cheer while you were supposed to be working.  On the downside, you don't get to see pictures of Regrettable Food, but on the plus side you do get musical interludes!

Badmovies.org Radio Podcasts http://www.badmovies.org/radio/

Andrew Borntreger's reviews are funny and concise, just right for hearing the high points and low points of movies like Flash Gordon and Latitude Zero on a short subway or bus ride.    This part of his site hasn't been updated in a while, but hopefully he'll be recording more podcasts soon.  While you're waiting for new podcasts, you could always browse around the rest of the badmovies.org website and read reviews of awful and entertaining movies and download audio clips from your favorite films.  Just think how cool it would be to have sound bites from Attack of the Killer Tomatoes and Manos the Hands of Fate on your computer!

And I'd also like to second the nomination of Stephen Fry's podcast as being a super-cool thing.  The man has made me think about Oscar Wilde and wallpaper in an entirely different light.  And who knew THAT could happen???
