Tropic Thunder

So, thanks to Netflix, I'm able to catch up with movies that I never got to see in the first place.  Last night, Sue and I watched Tropic Thunder.  I'm glad I missed this one in the theater.  It wasn't that it was a bad film so much as it just wasn't a film I could see myself going to the theater to see.  The promos hyped it up so much though that I thought I was missing out on something.

I wasn't.

I put this film in my Dick Tracy category - the type of film that I can watch once and never really have to see it again.  The sad part is that the funniest parts of the film aren't really connected to the film.  The fake trailers and commercial before the film starts are hysterical and Tom Cruise's dance at the end of the film is a laugh out loud riot.  But the story itself is a long Ben Stiller joke that should have been on his television show rather than a motion picture.
